{Campaign} ODAC Blikkiesdorp – driving video views
Assisting ODAC with a digital campaign centred around raising awareness of the informal settlement in Cape Town called Blikkiesdorp and getting people to watch the ‘Is Blikkies Home’ documentary that was written and produced by the ODAC team, was a rewarding collaboration.
The “Is Blikkies Home” documentary was filmed throughout the course of 2015. The aim of the documentary is to follow the process that the residents of Blikkiesdorp, Cape Town, South Africa went through, together with ODAC and a coalition of organisations including The Right to Know, The Development Action Group, the Community Law Centre and the Legal Resources Centre to gain access to information from the City of Cape Town about the plans for their housing and relocation. ODAC’s mission is and was to support the community in their struggle for adequate housing, by assisting them to gain access to quality, credible and useful information.
Collaborating across the multiple ODAC digital platforms we produced two blog articles about the campaign and then used Facebook and Twitter to drive traffic to the ODAC website and to increase engagement and awareness of the cause.
Results:
The Facebook page saw incredible engagement with post share numbers reaching an incredibly large audience for very limited spend – the top post received 60 shares alone!
The Documentary resulted in 7 272 people watching the video for 3 seconds or more on Facebook and 1 703 people watched the video for 30 seconds or more.
Total video views to date: 5 336 (1 December 2018)
