Africa’s technology ecosystem is full of ambitious ideas, innovative startups and entrepreneurs building businesses with the potential to change industries. But bringing those ideas to life often depends on getting the right people into the same room.

That is what AfricArena set out to do: create a platform that brings together startups, investors, corporates, and some of the leading voices shaping technology and innovation across the continent.

Edge worked closely with the AfricArena team from 2017 to 2021, helping grow its flagship Cape Town conference and its wider programme of regional and international events.

Our role went far beyond event production. We immersed ourselves in Africa’s technology landscape, researching emerging trends and businesses, finding exciting speakers and startups, connecting investors and partners, and helping shape programmes that reflected the conversations happening across the continent.

Then we helped bring it all together, from speakers, stakeholders and communications to stage design, suppliers, production and the countless moving parts behind a successful event.

It was fast-paced, ambitious and incredibly exciting work, giving Edge the opportunity to become deeply connected to Africa’s growing technology and innovation ecosystem, while helping AfricArena create spaces where ideas, people and investment could come together.
