UBI Campaign for the Institute for Economic Justice
UBI Campaign for the Institute for Economic Justice
About this project
For millions of South Africans, meeting basic needs remains a daily struggle. The Institute for Economic Justice (IEJ) is working to change that through research and advocacy for a Universal Basic Income (UBI) that provides people with a guaranteed income floor.
Behind the campaign is a substantial body of research looking at poverty, inequality, social protection and the wider economic impact of putting more money into people’s hands.
Edge works closely with IEJ to take this complex economic research and turn it into clear, engaging content that brings the evidence into the public conversation. We develop campaign messaging, social media content, explainers, articles and infographics, supported by targeted paid amplification to reach public, media and policy audiences.
As new research emerges and the debate around basic income evolves, so does the campaign, giving us new opportunities to explain the evidence, challenge misconceptions and make complicated economic ideas easier to understand.
Ultimately, our role is simple: help make the research accessible, the evidence understandable and the case for universal basic income part of a wider national conversation.
